Why Us?
Our Piqua optometrists are highly skilled and educated not only in comprehensive eyecare but medical eyecare as well. Certain medical conditions such as astigmatism, presbyopia, keratoconus and more may require a specific type of gas-permeable contact lens. Luckily we have the experience and knowledge to treat these ailments and to sharpen your vision as well as provide a more comfortable pair of contact lenses for your eyes. Our Piqua scleral contact lenses may be the right choice for you.
What are Scleral Contact Lenses
Gas-permeable contacts, known for their rigid material, are much more durable than regular soft contact lenses and have the ability to transmit oxygen, necessary for your cornea. Sometimes after a cornea transplant or corneal refractive surgery, scleral contact lenses would be recommended. Scleral contact lenses tend to be larger than standard gas-permeable contacts, providing more comfort for someone diagnosed with keratoconus and will even offer clearer vision.
How to get Scleral Contact Lenses
Both Dr. Dustin Gardner and Dr. Valerie Gardner have extensive experience in fitting specialty contacts, and can determine whether or not scleral contacts would be the right decision for you. Dr. Valerie is familiar with fitting orthokeratology (contact lenses that are worn during the night to reshape the cornea and improve vision) that focus on correcting astigmatism and presbyopia. Dr. Dustin specializes in fitting for “hard-to-fit” contacts as well as those with corneal disease. Our eye doctors are extremely passionate about fitting specialty contacts and treating conditions that may inhibit clear sight or cause extreme discomfort. Dr. Dustin’s Specialty Contact Lens Services may benefit those who qualify that have been diagnosed with irregular astigmatism, keratoconus, or have had corneal surgery. Let us help bring crispness and comfort to your eyes by determining whether or not our Piqua scleral contacts would be the best fit for you.
